If you run a WordPress blog, you have probably encountered the problem with spam comments. There are several ways to limit spam, although it’s getting more and more difficult to avoid, since spammers are using more clever methods.

You should probably use all the following means to avoid those useless comments on your blog:

1 – Use the correct settings

Some blog owners will put your comment in moderation each time you write on their blog. Personally, I think this is going too far, but yes, you will only let little spam slip through, if you use this method.

However, it would mean that you should spend a lot of time reading comments and moderating them, also from repeated and trusted commenters.

A better way would be to check “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” under Settings -> Discussion.

You will save time, and it’s very unlikely at least at present that somebody leaves a serious comment, and then comes back to spam the next time.

As spammers get smarter, this might chance.

2 – Use a plugin or two

The plugin Akismet will save you a lot of time. It will automatically filter out spam comments, but should it make mistakes you can correct them by marking the message as okay.

While Akismet protects you from spam by a filtering method, SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam will make it impossible for robots to write on your blog. It will place a CAPTCHA code within the comment box, and it will take a human being to read and copy the letters in it.

3 – Use a search engine

Here’s the problem: You might have spam comments on your blog without knowing it.

Just today, I received a very polite comment to one of my blog posts. It sounded totally relevant, and I was flattered by the writer’s final words: “I like your style”.

Still smiling, but nevertheless, somewhat skeptic, I did a search for another phrase within the comment. And “Bingo”, there it was as a comment to another person’s blog, written by somebody else.

So, you see, those spammers are now copying already approved comments and will re-use them on your blog, when they can. Don’t fall for this trick. Do a research, before you approve a comment.

You only need to copy something not generic from the comment, and paste it into a search engine with quotes around. If you don’t get any results, nice, then you can safely approve the comment. If you do, however, check if the rest is also similar to what you’ve received, and in that situation, reject it.

You are doing both yourself and your readers a huge favour.

Do you want a system to make you some free easy money from your WordPress blog? Then get this…

I’ve created a system, I use myself for two Danish blogs. It brings me fresh and unique content for free, and no – it has nothing to do with autoblogging. When you’re ready to make free easy money, go to my website at http://freecontentsystem.com/

Your WordPress website doesn't have to look boring. There are thousands of free and premium themes available on the Internet that can transform your site from pedestrian to professional in minutes.

Perhaps the hardest part of WordPress to grasp for new users is that there’s no set “look” to the site it creates – the content and design are completely separated, so the entire theme can be changed within one or two clicks. This is alien to anyone who’s been through web design, where usually the appearance is hard-coded in the HTML and difficult to change.

The theme acts as a skin, determining where individual page elements such as menus, posts and pages are placed, which colors and fonts are used, column layouts, background graphics and anything else on the page. The standard themes that are packaged with a WordPress installation work fine but you’ve probably seen the same themes used on many different sites. Additionally, these tend to focus on the blogging function of WordPress, while other themes create more of a ‘magazine’ or business feel to the site.

Fortunately, adding additional themes is easy. If you’re running WordPress 3.0, log into the administrator page of your site (usually located mysite.com/wp-admin), click on Appearance and then select Themes. Here you can see the themes installed on your server, and the currently selected theme. Clicking Preview on any available theme will show a rendering of your site using the new layout – but without changing anything on the live website.

There are several ways to find new themes – by clicking Install Themes on the top tab menu, you can search for one of 1,219 themes available on WordPress.org, absolutely free. These are tagged by style to help search through the list. But you’re not just limited to the themes on WordPress.org.

With literally thousands of custom WordPress themes, a simple Google search for “free WordPress themes” yields several hundred websites with a wide variety of designs. Once you find a design you’d like to use, download the theme’s ZIP file (where all the core theme customizations are stored) and return to your site’s WordPress administration. Under the Install Themes option, click Upload and select the ZIP file to install the theme on your server. This normally takes just a few seconds, and once again you can preview the theme to see if it suits your site.

There are also sites offering premium WordPress themes, which tend to provide more customization and complexity than their free counterparts. One of the most well known is called WooThemes, though there are many companies producing work of a similar quality. The main benefit in using a theme as a starting point is that it’s relatively easy to change the HTML or CSS to tailor the look to your exact needs. Additionally, since many themes have been tested for CSS validation, a theme can be the fast track to creating a site that both looks professional and will work identically across all modern browsers.

WordPress themes offer an easy way to make your site distinctive, and adding customization can be used to make it yours. Always check the licensing of the theme you use: while some are GPL (essentially open source), others may be more restrictive in terms of the number of sites you can create, or whether credits must remain in the footer.

My first introduction into blogging, was reading a friends blog, the only thing was that she took so long putting in her new copy. I soon got tired of returning to find the same stuff there all the time. So I gave up watching her site.

This made me realise that when one starts blogging, one has to keep their site up to date all the time. I didn’t think then that I had the time for it although I had thought it may be an interesting way to keep in touch with family and friends, although it didn’t really help as some of them I still have to write a physical letter to the old fashioned way.

To make it easier so I did not have to write a lot of letters to everyone I knew I started sending out an e-mail newsletters. This meant that I could keep everyone happy, they had fairly regular news from me, which I could do once. I still though had the few hand letters to write, but these too found a short cut wrote one letter, just suitable changed to suit the person it was going to. So basically sent out the same letter to everyone I know.

This too needs constant updating if you stop, your family and friends, may thing something terrible has happened to you. Joining Facebook had it’s benefits, as I now had online access to a lot of family and friends who had found their way here too.

Everything in life and in your Internet Home Business has consequences, if you don’t do something you won’t get the answers you require. So just as keeping your friends and family updated with your news, so too you need to keep hands on with your Internet Business and Blogging Business.

Otherwise sadly they will become a little like my friends blog, forgotten. People will stop visiting your site. This is especially true if you wish to use your blogging as a means to make money online. People will think that you are not really interested in your product, and that you don’t really care. The bottom line being that they will stop coming to your site, and soon they will forget all about you, as you’ve fallen through the cracks.

Another thing we need to do is to keep updating our product knowledge, depending on what it is we are marketing. Bath oil is an easy one, to test and give the benefits it’s given you and your family. Some products though are not so easy to test, which means one has to maybe ind out more about the product some other way.

Sometimes your product is not so easy to test, yet you will have to use all your skills to market effectively. Find out as much about it as possible, who designed it, how it works, what is it all about, so that you can talk about it with ease. Knowing about your product will give people the sense that you are more of an expert, about it than you really are. I you don’t understand it, either find someone who can help you to understand it better, or you should not be selling that product.

Take Television advertising, have you noticed every few months they change them around. That is supposed to be so that we don’t get tired of them, but then they come back. Sometimes when they come up you just want to turn the Television off.

The same principles applies to blogging, especially if you are marketing products, don’t just play the same thing over and over again. Your audience will get bored, and turn you off.

That is why I have undertaken this journey of my own. I am new to blogging and I know I need to know more about it. So I am busy doing a blogging course which is taking me slowly at my own pace through all the aspects of blogging.

You are welcome to join me on my journey of learning how to become an effective blogger. We can take the journey together at http://www.dotsblogprofitacademy.com

The world of blogging is related to many things, some may relate it as a place for random chatter and the expression of opinions where as to others it may be a place for the latest information and news of the happenings around the world. The reason behind the success of blogging in passing around news is their ability to instantly update its content in an instant. Unlike the other methods of news and information distribution, blogs have the capability of being instantly updated due to the fact that they do not go through all the levels of administration and filtering such as editors and administrators before being presented to the public eye.

This feature of the blog has allowed news about big events such as the famous terrorist attack at London in the month of July in the year 2005 to be published and spread across the globe in an instant. What happened was after the attack during the period when passengers were being evacuated from a subway car nearby the explosion, a random citizen snapped a couple of photos of the scene using the camera on his cell phone and immediately after an hour upon the upload of those pictures online. People from all across the globe were alerted of the event in London and alerted the citizens of London to take extra precautions in order to protect their safety.

The method upon which the information was spread made it fee very personal for the people who viewed it, due to the fact that it was spread around by a common person like you and me and free from being tempered by the hands of political or any other type of influence. That is one of the wonders of blogging they come across as very personal to the people reading them because they aren’t in a formal presentation and is presented on a more personal level. This form information signifies the dawning of a new age of writing, when information and news can be spread by anybody and report on news based on the insight’s of a common citizen.

It is a wide spread feeling of mutual views on the topic of blogging in news, as many bloggers and cultural commentators in the field of web log movement express their view that this growing trend of reporting news via blogs is a very good things as it claims a more democratic aspect in the world of news reporting. This method of decentralizing news reports to sources other than the media heads, have allowed more and more people get more in touch personally with the issues at hand and gives them the power to speak their thoughts and opinions. Amidst that, there are also forces which do not agree to the spread of news in such a free manner. This is because they argue that this method of news spreading uses information from the blogger himself without any real validated proof to justify the news.

Creating a blog website is something that many people do for many reasons. If you are looking to do this for business reasons meaning you are an affiliate of a business then this is one of the best decisions you are making. There are many advantages to having your own online presence and I will outline these within the main body of the article.

Why should I listen to you and read this article?

Before I share the benefits of creating a blog website with you, some of you may be thinking why should I listen to you? Well firstly because I am simply trying to help you in creating a strong online presence which will only benefit you in the long run therefore if you want to succeed, it would be a wise decision to read this article to the end. Secondly, I know what I am talking about because I already have my own websites and am getting traffic as well as comments on them on a daily basis. I know what you need to do in order to dominate the search engines resulting in your websites getting more views which means more traffic and a higher chance of more sales!

Advantages of creating a blog website

If you have taken the wise decision and will read this article then check out the advantages of creating a blog website below:

1) You can easily build an online presence and build your business. Note I said the word easily because at the end of the day, when you know what you are doing anything is easy! In terms of building your business, you should know that by taking this route of having a blog or website, you will need to be consistent and regularly update your site. Many people fail with a blog because they start posting content for around a month and then cannot be bothered! What is the point of that? I am sure you do not want to waste your time and money only to end up quitting after a month! Quitters never win and winners never quit and you my friend are a winner because you are taking action and looking for a way in creating a blog website meaning you want to succeed.

2) You can make new relationships with your visitors or other Internet marketers. This is one of the most important things you should be doing and a blog allows you to do this. Why is this important you may be thinking? No matter what other people have told you or what you have heard, people join people and not businesses. The more people that trust you, the more they will do for you and help you succeed. Unless you realise the importance of starting and maintaining relationships, you will never succeed online no matter what business you are in.

So in conclusion, they are just two detailed benefits of having your own site. If you want to succeed online and make a real solid income, then having a blog will definitely help towards that because it allows you to kill two birds with one stone. Meaning you can build your business and create relationships at the same time. So, if you are willing to succeed and are looking for an easy and simple way of creating a blog website, click on the link in the box below to find out more.

Believe it or not, blogging is a good way to begin a business. It can also work as a main point of your online business. You can also utilize a blog to assist in branding your business as well as complement a site. All in all, beginning a blog of your own is an adventure. The following are easy ways to get your blog going:

Select your preferred platform

There are numerous blogging platforms. For instance, WordPress is currently the most popularly used blogging platform. Basically, it is convenient to use, free and easily modifiable to suit your needs and sensibilities.

Do spend a sufficient amount of time checking the different blogging platforms. You could see whether WordPress, Blogger or Typepad is best for you. Essentially, these are the three popular platforms currently available. If you do have a website, make sure you know what your host offers.

What are your blog topics?

Essentially, deciding what the topics are of your blog requires a bit of creativity and probably research. Still, it is important to be specific.

For instance, if you are blogging on the topic of pets, you might have to be more specific. Visitors usually go to blogs which appeal to their particular interests.

What are your reasons for blogging?

Usually, people blog for financial reasons. You may be using your blog as the basis of your online business. You may also be using it to brand a current business. It is important to decide on the reasons on why you are blogging and what is your blog’s purpose.

Create your blog

You then need to select your domain name and hosting service. You also need to select a particular blog template for your selected platform.

WordPress provides tons of templates. Feel free to avail the services of a designer in order to make a template that is customized for you.

You can also select a template that suits your purpose, needs and personality. After which, you can avail the services of a designer to make a header that is customized for your blog. The average cost of a custom WordPress logo or header is less than a hundred dollars.

You also need to alter your blog settings in this particular step. Do decide on the number of posts displayed on your specific landing page. You can also select on how the blog links will appear.

Do install and activate widgets as well as plug-ins in order to suit all your blogging needs. Traditional plug-ins assist in optimizing your blog for various search engines. They also decrease spam comments. Plus, plug-ins suit any requirements which your blog could have.

Begin writing

Now is the time to blog. Initially, do decide if you intend to have blog pages. A page sample is an “About Me.” Blogging allows you to add plug-ins and alter the template design in order to suit your needs. They are freely customizable. Add membership sites, shopping carts, video, audio and product catalogs.

Are you trying to make money online? If you are, you better have your most wanted response ready then.

Did I just see a question mark above your head? You have no idea what that is? Then this is the post for you!

What is a most wanted response?

In plain words it is “what you want people to do on your blog”.

Your most wanted response can be people clicking on your affiliate links and buying products, leaving their e-mails when they subscribe to your newsletter or hire you for a service you are offering.

Every post you write should have a most wanted response. If you don’t have one, your visitors will just leave the blog after reading the post. Or best case scenario, they will wonder around. But without MWR on any of your pages, they will eventually just leave.

Why should you have a most wanted response on your blog? If you are blogging for money (or hoping you will do it one day), most wanted response is what helps bring the money.

With a MWR “assigned” to everything you do, you will get to the money part faster.

Let me digress a bit here. I’ve read a lot of posts on how to get more comments. Don’t get me wrong, I love them and use those tips a lot. I love getting a lot of comments. But if you are building your blog to make money, comments alone won’t do that for you.

So, instead of making your most wanted response “getting more comments” you should have in mind another MWR – “make money”.

Now, although your main MWR for a blog should be “make money” you should have a more specific MWR for every post you write.

Also, this works the other way around too. If you have a MWR in plan, there is a certain kind of post you should write to get it. How to know what is your most wanted response for different pages? Different types of blogs offer different types of services so they need to adjust their posts accordingly. It will depend on how you monetize your blog as a whole or how you monetize specific parts of it.

Why do you write a sales page? To sell. So what is your MWR there? You want people to click on “add to cart” button and buy your product.

Why do you write a review page? You want to show people why they should spend money on the product/service you are reviewing. So your MWR will probably be for them to click your affiliate link and buy.

You want more subscribers? You will create a sign-up page and tell people why should they give you their e-mails.

Is there a MWR for your front/home page? YES! You want people to dig deeper into your blog.

MWR doesn’t always have to be to make more money. You can even have a MWR where you will want visitors to go and see another blogger’s blog.

Always have in mind that everything you do, can and should have a most wanted response attached to it. What not to do? What would be a completely wrong thing to do when it comes to a most wanted response. Distraction!

If you have a sales page where MWR is (of course) for your visitors to buy, you will never add a “Visit our Facebook fan page” to the top of your post. Why? Because it will take your visitors away from the page and away from the sale.

Call to action

All this is basically explaining that you need a call to action on your blog. That call will get your most wanted response.

You need to be clear about what you want people to do. If you are selling a product your call for action will be “add to cart” button. Add more than one of those. Give people the chance to do what you want them to do.

How will you know if you are doing it right?

You need to track your results and then analyze them. If you are not selling anything, your sales page is not working. Change it!

If you are getting some sales but think you can do better, do a test. Change the page and see if you get more sales. Tracking two or more different pages should give you enough data to analyze it and decide what works the best.

In case something is not really working there is only one thing to do – flush it down the toilet. Start over.

And just one note for the end – even if it is working good, try to improve it, because you can always do better!

This is a a great question. Should you? I think the following three benefits make a great case for...YES!

If you have children you probably encourage them to be the best they can be. You want them to learn and grow and be happy. Helping your child create their very own blog could be a great learning experience. Your child will develop their writing and social skills with a blog. In an ever evolving world, it is smart to get your child used to technology like the internet. If you are wary of allowing your child to blog, here are some great reasons that might change your mind…

1. Develop Their Writing Skills – Some children don’t like to read and write. This might change if you help them set up their own blog. Kids seem to gravitate towards technology at an early age these days. If they don’t find traditional writing enjoyable, the added touch of technology inherent in a blog might excite them. You can help them develop their writing skills by encouraging them to post regularly to their blog.

2. Develop Technological Skills – The world we live in is becoming more and more technological everyday. Many parents feel overwhelmed themselves. You do not want your child failing behind. having them regularly using a blog will introduce them to the internet, computers, typing and email. All of these skills are pretty much essential, especially for the next generation. There are a lot of pitfalls and dangers incorporated with these technologies so teaching your child how to avoid these early will be tremendously helpful.

3. Develop Social Skills – Having a blog will allow your child to get more comfortable expressing his feelings. Responding to comments can also help them develop their social skills. Some kids are shy and they may be able to express themselves more fully online. Just writing can be therapeutic and allow your child to voice frustrations that they weren’t able to do in real life. Eventually these skills may translate to their face to face meetings.

These three reasons alone should be good enough for any parent who has thought about allowing their children to blog. You need to help them navigate the internet pitfalls, but it will all be a learning experience. Make sure you monitor your children’s online activities and blog. You also need to talk to your child and explain the dangers. Once you have done that, and considering the vast benefits, I think your child having a blog is a wonderful idea.

Any person who's wrote more than forty-two sentences has ran into the ever infamous writer's block. Here are some ways to get past the lousy ideas and get back on track.

Ever start thinking up ideas for a blog post only to find that everything your mind can conjure is really lame? I have, and most anyone who’s honest with themselves has too. But have no fear, there is a way around these problems, and here are a few I’ve found works for me!

First you can always try something that I wrote about on my blog — trying to come up with 100 ideas for blog posts in 15 minutes or less. If you give this a go, you’re sure to come up with some ideas, even if the first ones out the door aren’t keepers.

Talk to someone about the problem. Once you admit that you’re stuck, sometimes talking to someone can be a great help. Sometimes they may not even have the best ideas themselves, but talking to someone can help you get the ball rolling in your own head and get out of your rut.

Take a walk or go for a jog. What mystical powers moving your legs has on your ability to think out blog posts has eludes me, but the fact of the matter remains that it works. And by no means should you ever try to force the ideas, that will get you nowhere fast. Just let the thoughts flow naturally and soon you should have something, just bring something to record it with so that you don’t forget by the time you get back.

Try Freewriting. Freewriting is the bizarre task of writing whatever comes into your head as fast and ridiculously as possible. Sometimes I just end up writing about how I can’t think of anything to write, but sometimes this task can help grease the cognitive wheels and get you running again.

Sit down and just do it. Yeah, this is the one that everyone likes to close their ears to and hope desperately will go away if you ignore it long enough, and I can’t say that it isn’t tempting for me either. But an important facet of blogging is consistency, so sometimes you’ll have to bite the bullet and grind out a post as the writing machine screeches and groans in protest. You’ll have to accept that sometimes you won’t write a real knock-out of a post, but even Babe Ruth didn’t hit a home run every time he went to bat. If you worry too much about making perfect blog posts every time, you’ll rarely get even one done.

In my profession as a writer, I’ve learned a lesson about this as well. Sometimes I’ll write a blog post that I think is the 16th Chapel of blogging, only for it to be rejected. Other times, I’ve submitted a post with a sigh and shame over the quality, and end up having it accepted. Though this I’ve found that your own opinion simply isn’t always the most accurate, so it’s usually best to simply submit it and see what happens than end up fusing over getting something just right.

BONUS TIP: Blogging consistently is an important part of developing credibility. But blogging consistently can be a challenge for many. Knowing that, I decided to put together the free, 5-week eCourse 5 Secrets to Developing the Blogging Habit. You can enroll in this course free of charge when you visit http://professionalcontentcreation.com.

I wish you the best!

Any one who is new to blogging will need to put extra efforts when it comes to making a blog visible to readers. Writing may be one of your options with the hope that your blog will some day be picked by Google search engine and ranked. Those who opt for this option only do so with the greatest risk of putting their blog in a state of uncertainty. For those who do want to pursue such a path they ought to come up with better ways to market their blogs if they want them to be a source of money.

There are some methods of advertisement that will not cost you any money and you would best be placed if you used any of these methods to promote your business.

In the beginning you should not be in a hurry to make any money reason being that you are very new to the market and people do not have a reason to trust you. You will need to work out your reputation before any one can trust in you and your services. You can start by writing some good quality articles in your blog to try and win the confidence of your readers. Write informative articles that your readers can use in judging the area of your specialization. If you concentrate on good quality content and a little bit of promotion you will start seeing some positive changes in terms of traffic increase.

You can get into the business of article marketing by writing some articles and submitting them to articles sites of high integrity. These sites provide you the opportunity of adding a link at the end of the article or the resource box. This will give your readers a detailed account of what you are giving them in the articles. Through this method you are likely to increase traffic in your site and make more sales with your business.

A good option is submitting your articles to multiple directories that are available. All these article sites will allow you to leave a link back to your site to direct traffic there. With the rising popularity of social bookmarking sites you can also submit some of them to social marking sites which are likely to give you hundreds of visitors who can transform your online business.

Use of online forums and Bulletin can also give your business an upper hand when it comes to promotion. The main reason why people visit forums is to get some answers to some of their questions relating to business and one who provides these answers in an exact way will definitely be a crowd puller when it comes to traffic generation in any blog. Readers will want to follow such a person and see where he or she is so that he can help them with more information on different issues. Using the links that you place in these forums readers can access your site and get more from you. This is another form of free traffic in a blog. Look for those forums that are relevant to your niche because they are the ones that can give you traffic that buys.
